Ingredients needed to prepare Tres leches

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups of flour (280 g)
  • 3/4 liters of milk (750 ml)
  • 1 cup of powdered milk (140 g)
  • 2/3 cup of butter (100 g)
  • 1 1/4 cup of sugar (250 g)
  • 1 cup of condensed milk (250 ml)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (125 ml)
  • 6 teaspoons of baking soda or baking powder (30 g)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (5 ml)

Ingredients needed to make meringue:

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 lemon (100 g)
  • 3/4 cup of water (180 ml)
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar (300 g)
  • 1/4 tablespoon of wine stone (2.5 g)

The method of preparing the dough:

  • Beat butter and sugar until creamy. It’s a good idea to take the butter out of the refrigerator half an hour before you start making the dough so that it softens.
  • Preheat the oven to 200 ° C
  • While constantly stirring, add one egg to the mass.
  • Then add the sifted flour and baking powder.
  • When all the ingredients are well combined, add the milk and vanilla extract and stir for a while.
  • Pour the mass into a mold.
  • Bake for half an hour until golden brown. With the help of a wooden stick you can check if the dough is dry inside.
  • Take the baking tin out of the oven and pierce the surface of the dough with a fork. As a result, the cream is well absorbed.
  • Using a mixer, beat condensed milk, cream and powdered milk.
  • Finally, spread the mass evenly over the entire surface of the cake and wait for it to soak.

Method of preparing meringues:

  • Whip egg whites to a stiff foam, preferably using the special mixer attachment.
  • Add a tartar to give it volume and bounce. Set aside.
  • Boil sugar water over low heat. When the sugar is completely dissolved, add the lemon zest. Heat until sugar turns into caramel. You will recognize that it is ready by a dense, flowing texture.
  • Add the caramel to the egg white foam and beat on high speed for 6 more minutes. The meringue is ready.
  • Finally, spread it evenly over the entire dough with the spatula.
