However, if you dream of homemade butterscotch, and you think that you do not have the necessary ingredients – do not worry, we will remedy the problem with an appropriate recipe.

What is a butterscotch? It is a thick, ductile mass usually made of sugar and cream, or condensed milk. In Poland, in the 17th century, it was created on the model of the Turkish butterscotch.

You don’t have to follow recipes in traditional kitchen books. So we present an alternative recipe for a homemade, delicious butterscotch, perfect for donuts. Let’s also not forget that the cake is extremely important. Donuts take similar forms all over the world for a reason.

Recipe for butterscotch donuts

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of water (125 ml)
  • ½ cup of orange juice (125 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons of table butter (40 g)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt (5 g)
  • 1 large potato (about 250 g)
  • 2 ½ cups of plain flour (300 g)

  • 1 cup of condensed milk (250 ml)
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons of rapeseed oil (60 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder (15 g)
  • 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar (60 g)

Preparation

  • First, we should prepare a saucepan. Pour orange juice there, attach butter and salt.
  • Then, when all the ingredients have melted together: we have to mix them well, creating a homogeneous mass.
  • Now let’s get a big potato ready. Peel the vegetable, cook the potato and, when it is sufficiently soft, knead it to purée.
  • Combine the liquid mixture from the first stage, prepared earlier, with mashed potatoes, condensed milk and egg.
  • Remember not to leave lumps by stirring well and using a wooden spoon.
  • Then add the wheat flour and baking powder, and then knead everything with your hands.
  • First of all, it is important not to leave any lumps or irregular textures in the dough . Otherwise, the shape of the donut will adversely change due to the air bubbles contained in it.

Next steps in making butterscotch donuts

  • Sprinkle a little wheat flour on a wooden board and continue kneading. Do not add any more flour to the mass: only on the board. Otherwise, you will not get the spongy consistency you want.
  • With the help of a rolling pin, we should now flatten the dough to a thickness of no more than 1.5 cm.
  • Cut the dough pieces with a cookie and donut cutter.
  • Leave the dough for 1.5 hours. This is a certain patent that will leave the donuts soft and fluffy.
  • Then add the oil in the pans, leaving it over medium heat. When it is sufficiently hot – fry each donut. Remember that one minute is enough.
  • Importantly, the next step will be to fill the donuts with a sleeve or a needle.
  • We fill them with our prepared cream, one by one (making small holes in the donuts).
  • When we have finished this stage of filling the sweets, it is enough to sprinkle the donuts with powdered sugar, cool slightly and enjoy their excellent taste.

You can eat them warm or the next day. However, it is the fresh donuts that have the power to bring back pleasant childhood memories. As you probably know, in Poland, kajmak is most often used to create Easter mazurkas.
